Strep throat is a bacterial infection of the throat caused by Group A Strep. It is also called tonsillitis which is an infection or inflammation of the tonsils. It can cause many symptoms such as sore throat, headache, stuffy/runny nose, fevers, chills and more. Some patients even experience nausea and a dry, hacking cough.
Testing for the bacteria includes a swab placed on the side of the back of your throat. This testing takes 5 minutes to provide us a throat. This bacteria is treated with an antibiotic. We will also recommend throwing away your toothbrush and mask in 2 days to prevent the infection from returning.
