Lacerations

Lacerations also referred to as cuts are a pattern of injury in which skin and underlying tissues are cut or torn.

A laceration/cut is usually caused by a sharp object, like a shard of glass, knife, razor and common household or workplace equipment with sharp edges.

Treatment of laceration involves stopping the bleeding, cleaning and dressing the wound. Deeper cuts may need stitches or sutures to stop bleeding and reduce scarring. Lacerations can be managed in the outpatient setting at urgent care near you. Depending on the location and severity of the injury, you may need to go to the emergency room.

If you are in doubt of where to go when you are injured, go to the urgent care near you for an assessment of the injury.
